The Swedish Academy awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Literature to Canadian poet and essayist Anne Carson. The academy recognized Carson's "bold and inventive oeuvre that, in playful dialogue with the classical tradition, has created new forms for contemporary literature." Carson is known for genre-crossing works including "Autobiography of Red." She joins a small group of Canadian Nobel laureates in literature and represents continued recognition of writers who blend classical scholarship with experimental literary forms.
