Sydney's 2027 festival will host 11 international dance works making their Australian premiere, according to The Guardian. The program triples the dance offering from the previous Sydney festival and will bring 174 performers and crew to the city in January.

French choreographer Rachid Ouramdane's "Outsider" anchors the lineup. The 2024 work features 21 dancers from the Ballet du Grand Théâtre de Genève and four elite athletes navigating high wires and slack lines to minimalist compositions by avant garde composer Julius Eastman. The Guardian describes the piece as featuring a "cat's cradle" of high wires and slack lines across a venue called the Cutaway.

The works originate from France, Belgium, South Africa and other countries. One program entry, "Dance Reflections," makes its southern hemisphere debut and features collaborators of Rosalía, Madonna and Beyoncé, The Guardian reports.

The Guardian labels the overall program a "once-in-a-lifetime" offering, though the outlet does not provide additional detail on the other 10 international works, ticket pricing, specific performance dates within January, or venue locations beyond the mention of the Cutaway.
