Oxfam aid workers have warned that the humanitarian crisis in Taiz, a besieged Yemeni city of more than 900,000 people, is becoming unmanageable as supplies of water, fuel and fresh food dwindle.
Iran-allied Houthi forces have largely encircled Taiz, cutting the city off from most supply routes, according to Oxfam. Heavy fighting erupted around the city's old airport this week, causing extensive damage in a densely populated residential area.
The aid organization did not provide specific figures on remaining water reserves, fuel stocks or food supplies. Oxfam did not specify which routes have been severed or provide a timeline for when supplies might be exhausted.
