The remnants of Hurricane Isaias brought heavy rainfall across the central Appalachians and mid-Atlantic region on Sunday, leaving nearly 396,000 customers without power across the Florida Panhandle and southern Alabama, according to reporting by The Guardian.
The National Weather Service warned of isolated flash flooding and strong wind gusts across the southeastern United States, particularly near the southern Appalachians. These conditions posed risks of scattered power outages and downed trees and power lines. Life-threatening surf and rip current conditions were expected to persist along the Gulf and southeastern Atlantic coasts.
At least four deaths have been linked to the storm. The Guardian reported that the remnants of what had weakened to a post-tropical cyclone continued to pose hazards to the region as it moved northward.
